Where the money comes from, where it goes, and who decides.
The In Search of Peace Fund is the part of this work that handles money, so that circles can be free, keepers can be paid, and the people most connected to the harm and the healing hold the practice rather than institutions.
What the money does
Circles
Convening and supporting circles for those impacted by sexual harm: harmed parties, those who caused harm, loved ones, and community members. Always free to join.
Keepers
Stipends, training, and supervision for the people holding circles. The Fund's first funding priority.
Access
ASL interpretation, tech access, transportation, child care, and microgrants, so that free means reachable.
Learning
The curriculum, the library, the letters, and the room: tools shared freely so others can adapt and grow this work.
Running the Fund
The director's time, filings, and the small costs of a small organization. The Fund intends to pay its director; the amount will be set by the board and published here.
Not yet: matched savings
An aspiration the Fund is working toward: a matched savings program alongside the circles. Named here so that it is on the record before it exists.
Where it comes from
Individual gifts now; grant applications from the 2027 cycles; public and institutional funders as the Fund grows. One rule governs all of it: no strings.
Nothing that requires reporting on participants. Nothing that dictates who may sit in a circle or what they must say. Nothing that makes the Fund an arm of the systems it exists to offer an alternative to. Money is accepted on the Fund's terms or not at all; that includes money from state agencies, which is welcome on those terms.
Until the Fund has its own bank account, gifts toward incorporation are received by Wilfred Henry through Ko-fi and go only to the filing costs listed in the ledger. Contributions at this stage are not tax-deductible.
Commitments
Written so they can be checked, not admired.
- We publish the ledger.
Every gift in, by month and amount, never by the giver's name unless they ask to be named. Every payment out, by purpose and amount. Keeper stipends and the director's pay appear as their own lines. Updated as money moves.
- We take no money with strings.
Public and institutional funders are welcome, including state agencies. What we will not accept is money that requires reporting on participants, dictates who may sit in a circle or what they must say, or makes the Fund an arm of the systems it exists to offer an alternative to. Money is accepted on the Fund's terms or not at all.
- We pay the people who do the work.
Keepers are paid to keep circles. The Fund intends to pay its director; the amount will be set by the board and published here.
- We decide with keepers in the room.
Stipend rates and funding priorities are set with the people holding circles, not for them. The board ratifies.
- We publish the paperwork.
Articles of incorporation, bylaws, the conflict-of-interest policy, the IRS determination letter, and every annual filing, posted the day they exist.
- We say what went wrong.
Once a year, in the Letters: what we tried that did not work, and what we changed.
- We do not track you.

Who decides
The Fund is incorporating as a Virginia nonstock corporation with a board of directors, and applying for recognition as a 501(c)(3) public charity. The board sets the budget, the director's pay, and the stipend policy, with keepers in the room when stipend rates and funding priorities are decided. As the number of keepers grows, that room becomes a keepers' council with a formal voice in the budget.
Wilfred Henry is the founder and director. More about who holds it.
